Nichirei Corporation

Nichirei is a holding company and one of Japan's top producers of frozen foods and a leader in cold storage warehousing. Operating through about 80 subsidiaries and affiliates, it divides its business into six units: processed food, logistics, marine products (chiefly shrimp, roe, and octopus), meat and poultry, real estate, and other (bioscience and back-office support). The company's bioscience work includes antibody development and manufacturing, immunology products, and natural materials processing development. Maximizing the company's real estate assets and developing and selling housing property falls under the real estate unit. The company was formed in 1945 as a seafood business.
